1. Avoid wasted energy costs (5-10% of total utility costs) through increased conservation behaviours and efforts.
2. Position the board as an educational leader and innovator in the sustainability movement.
3. Create a culture of environmental stewardship and action that encourages and supports a safe learning environment.
4. Improve the efficiency of building operations through training in preventive maintenance and new systems.
5. Add value to the program with high quality, cross-curricular environmental education resources and strategies.
6. Engage diverse learning communities around a common focus (environmental sustainability) and provide shared activities to bring them together.
7. Enhance fiscal health by providing a strategy and a program that convert wasted expenditures into program and organizational renewal benefits.
8. Add value to organizational effectiveness by providing a robust partnering framework for managing the EarthCARE program.
