Classes excited about Recycling at Bird's Creek
April 11, 2006
Every class from Kindergarten to Grade 6 showed an interest in learning more about recycling at Bird's Creek Public School. Darleen
Wolters-Sword, the Hastings Board Environmental Technologist and Veronica Ford, EarthCARE project coordinator spent the day visiting classes sharing a recycling message with students.
The story of the Blue Box and how recycling got started was just the beginning.
A garbage bag was sorted to show what was truly garbage and what could be reduced,
recycled, and reused.
There were many student questions and ideas for future projects. Principal Mrs.
Collins challenged the students to bring 'litterless' lunches and help reduce
the amount of garbage at the school. Students were also encouraged to share
information at home to further the cause.
Good luck with this challenge, students and staff of Bird's Creek!
