Breadner Staff and Students have been Hard at Work this Year!

November 26, 2007

Under the guidance of Betty Kuhn, Breadner's very enthusiastic EarthCARE coordinator, students have been involved in many projects this year.

A club called PLAN has been formed. The students involved with PLAN – People Learning About Nature have been working on various crafts to enhance their environment. The funding for these activities has been provided by the gain-sharing the EarthCARE team has been awarded the past two years.

Garden Stones, bird feeders, fabric stamped t-shirts are just some of the crafty projects the PLAN club has made.

And not only are they busy crafting! The students in the club are continually doing spot 'LOCO' checks. The PLAN club scripts, word-processes, rehearses and presents the announcements with the much-needed Literacy link at the forefront. Announcements discussing the common problems regarding recycling are given to students prior to the spot checks and prizes like popcorn and jellybean parties are awarded to the top classes. A special 'thank you' label is attached to the door of the classes who have achieved the recycling expectations.

Breadner is not only very energy conscious but very involved in nature projects. What a way to make a difference!
