Celebration in Coe Hill!
November 12, 2006
The staff and students of Coe Hill celebrated the results of their EarthCARE
efforts from the school year 2005-2006 during an assembly on October 25th.
Project coordinator for Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board, Veronica
Ford was on hand to make the presentation to and thank the EarthCARE lead teacher,
Ms. Resmer and her Extreme Green Team. A participation award along with a cheque
for $1500.00 was well received. Ms. L. Resmer and the school principal, Ms.
S. Copeland will use the dollars to enhance an already strong enthusiasm for
environmental causes.
In preparation for the Celebration Assembly, the students designed a bulletin board where each student has the opportunity to pledge an environmental goal on their tree. The students also gave an Environmental Hug to the world in a Mural on the wall of their gym announcing to all that at Coe Hill did make a difference!
The staff and students were not only excited over their successes of last year. They were excited to remind others that Reusing, Reducing and Recycling were to receive strong emphasis this school year. Darleen Wolters-Sword, the Environmental Technologist with HPEDSB, shared information about recycling and encouraged all to continue with their efforts.
Yes, Coe Hill, we agree. You did make a difference!
