Emily Adams, teacher from Frankford Public School shares her love of books with both students and staff!
EarthCARE Trainings a Success!
November 14, 2007
Three separate training sessions were offered to the EarthCARE teams in Elementary schools this fall. Many teams attended with several students, Educational Assistants, Custodians and teachers leading the EarthCARE initiative this school year.
Several resources were shared. Emily Adams, teacher from Frankford Public School
lead an activity in which students and staff critiqued environmental books
to see how they might be used within the classroom. School groups chose their
favorite to share with the larger group and it was suggested that some might
be purchased from monies through 'gain-sharing' to add to their school libraries.
Lisa Resmer, teacher and coordinator from CoeHill Public School shared many resources with the group. DVDs and activities from Ducks Unlimited Wetland Educational Program-Project Webfoot and teaching units from the Canadian Forestry Association were among some of the resources presented to the group.
Each school was challenged to talk about their school goals and the possible activities they might have involvement with throughout the school year. Much interest and enthusiasm was felt throughout the sessions and the EarthCARE teams seemed inspired and ready to 'make a difference!'
A special thanks to our EarthCARE teams for their energizing participation!
