Over 200 students and staff attended the recent EarthCARE trainings held at Wm. R. Kirk. School Teams eagerly responded to the team- building activities led by Team Moira. School banners, Trivia quizzes and projects with recycled materials engaged teams in much environmental discussion. Environmental resources were shared by Curriculum Coordinator, Randy Votary; Energy and Environmental Technician, Sarah Cormier and EarthCARE Coordinator, Veronica Ford.
A Trading Card Activity provided a format for team celebration of past successes and future planning. For example:
Madoc Public School was proud to note that last school year, they
- had an EarthCARE Play Day
- made many environmental announcements
- made poster
- performed drama presentations
- had garbage pick-ups
- purchased and installed new blinds for the school
- had litterless lunches
- participated in LOCO (Lights Off, Computers Off) and
- led a June assembly
Teams were reminded to take the EC incentives (aluminum reusable water bottles, solar flashlights, Frisbees and more) and the many posters provided by The Ministry of The Environment.
Take a bow, EarthCARE teams. You continue to make a difference!
