'Be the change' that makes the difference was the message Team Moira sent to our Elementary schools.

EarthCARE Fall Training!

The fall trainings for EarthCARE have been successfully completed. With the help of two Secondary Teams – Team Moira and Team North Hastings Secondary, the trainings had "added energy" according to one of our schools.

The trainings began with team building activities – eco art; designing a team logo, True and False competition and a Spelling Bee led by our Secondary students. Much enthusiasm and cheering accompanied the activities and both students and staff enjoyed the "supportive" energy of the groups.

Resources such as books, websites and video clips were shared. Using media clips to encourage discussion during assemblies was strongly recommended. Websites that provide 'Take Action' sections were highlighted to provide added suggestions for event and activity planning back at our schools. As one school responded: " Thanks for the sharing of cool resources".

Audit information was shared and schools then spent some meaningful time goal setting and planning for monthly activities. We were proud to share that 10 of our schools made maximum benefit in terms of gainsharing. We have encouraged more schools to reach this goal as well. Remember: continuing to record all activities throughout the school year will be helpful when completing the Participation Report in the Spring…
