Harmony Huskies Working Hard on EarthCARE Projects!

February 18, 2007

The 465 students at this rural JK- Gr. 8 School have been working hard this school year to improve their environment and increase awareness. The Intermediate students have been busy both teaching and presenting to the younger students. The Primary and Junior students have concentrated on using recycled materials to create craft projects.

EarthCARE teacher- leader, Ms. Lazier, is proud of the ongoing projects her team is involved with this year. The projects have included composting, continuing with LOCO (Lights Off / Computers Off), and daily classroom checks to see who has the cleanest recycling containers.

Another ambitious project that is continual is their Naturalization Project. In the fall, much time is spent preparing the gardens for winter by weeding, trimming and mulching. The team looks forward again in the spring to preparing the beds for spring planting.

Keep up the great work, Harmony students and staff!
