LOCORO is a big focus this year!
Gainsharing dollars helped toward the purchase of an EarthCARE bulletin board so that staff and students can be continually informed re: environmental issues.
Teacher, Catherine Blakely, enthusiastically leads her team of students in environmental projects.
Kente School Students and Staff Enthusiastic About EarthCARE!
January 19, 2009
During a recent visit to Kente Public School, EarthCARE Coordinator, Veronica Ford, was extremely pleased with the participation of students under the leadership of teacher, Catherine Blakely. Ford visited students in a Grade 1 classroom where the students talked about the benefits of LOCO and waste reduction. LOCORO is the major focus for the
school year 2008-2009 - Lights Off, Computers Off, Recycling Okay! A very creative way to chart progress has been set up. Each time the class is spot-checked for lights off, computers off and correct recycling and they are successful, they gain a letter. When all the letters have been won, a special reward is given to the winning class.
Ford also saw a wonderful display of environmental information in the front foyer. Blakely reported that the bulletin board was purchased with past gain-sharing dollars. Information is posted to keep everyone informed re: upcoming projects and information that is relevant to the caring and preserving of our environment.
Thanks to team leader, Catherine Blakely for setting up this great announcement that Kente is indeed an EarthCARE school and reminding us that 'together we can make a difference'.
