Kente’s Earth Day Celebration a Success!

Catherine Blakely, EarthCARE rep for Kente Public School has once again organized an amazing day for the staff and students at her school. Everyone met in the gym for an Introduction to the day. An Earth Day birthday song led by the Grade 8’s was sung and the Initiatives for the 2009-2010 school year were celebrated. Composting, Pack it in/Pack it out; new EarthCARE resources for the library, new energy efficient refrigerator, backyard naturalization application made by Andy Margetson, Earth Rangers presentation with live animals, and an EarthCARE trip to the local Conservation Areas were among the line-up of purchases with their gainsharing monies & celebrations to be mentioned.
All the students from Grades 1 – 8 then went to various presentations throughout the day…

The day ended with a thank you to all the presenters and a special presentation of a Song of Hope by many enthusiastic primary students.
