Recycling, a 'Work in Progress' at Pinecrest Memorial Elementary School!

The Student Council and EarthCARE Coordinator, Ian Fox, have been working hard this year on two worthy goals. The first goal was to decrease the amount of garbage by increasing the recycling and the second was to commit to the LOCO (Lights off; computers off) initiative.

Mr. Fox indicated that he has seen much improvement over the course of the year. At the beginning of the school year, often in the blue box the only recyclables would have been paper. Now, after many reminders and an incentive programme, more recyclables like glass bottles, juice boxes and lunchables are making their way into the blue bin.

Next year, Pinecrest Memorial staff and students are prepared to build on the already well-established routines of recycling and LOCO and will as Mr. Fox said "only get better!"
