Spring EarthCARE Audit completed at QET!
Audit Completed at Queen Elizabeth Public School, Trenton!
May 16, 2007
Under the direction of EarthCARE coordinator, Veronica Ford and Vice-Principal, Heather McMaster, the team of dedicated Junior and Intermediate students at Queen Elizabeth School worked hard to compile the data necessary for the Spring EarthCARE audit.
The students received a short training prior to their lunch hour and while other students were engaged in their first of two nutrition breaks for the day, the audit was quickly completed. Classrooms were entered quietly and vents, lights, sinks, garbage and recycling became the focus for counting, checking and computing.
The participation report was a valuable activity for the administrative team because when completed, it was felt that much more had been accomplished than they initially thought. For example, the front foyer Green Space which catches the attention of all newcomers to the school
was overlooked when completing the participation report, despite the fact that a community volunteer visits and works in the school on a weekly basis. One of the goals of EarthCARE is to change behaviour so that we naturally act in an environmentally conscious way – This means you must be achieving success, QET!
