S.H. Connor/Tweed Hungerford working hard on EarthCARE projects!
July 9, 2006
EarthCARE Coordinator Jodi Archibald led the Grade 7 and 8 students who participated on the Green Team this year. The EarthCARE team met twice monthly to plan activities for both S.H. Connor, a K- Gr. 3 school and its partner school Tweed-Hungerford, a Gr. 4-8 school.
They spent much time working on their primary goal of decreasing garbage and
increasing the recycling in their schools. Informing primary students through
presentations and reminders and providing incentives such as the Awards given
at the monthly assemblies, certificates and prizes were just a couple of the
activities they were involved in. The EarthCARE team even went beyond the school
with their environmental awareness message as they had an article in the local
'Tweed News' to remind the community of their goal to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.
Great work, S.H. Connor and Tweed-Hungerford!
