EarthCARE, An Environmental Education Partnership ™

'Tis the Season for Sharing

EarthCARE Teams from schools in Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board spent a half a day sharing ideas on December 13th and 14th. Students enjoyed meeting other students and finding out what they are doing in their schools.

The students at Susanna Moodie Elementary School said the sharing confirmed for them that many schools were doing things as they were to save the earth. Currently at Susanna Moodie ES, the EarthCARE Team is working hard to kick off their LOCO Campaign. Signs above all the light switches were posted to remind everyone to turn off lights when not in use.

Deanna, a student at Susanna Moodie ES, said she felt the in-service "gave great ideas to help the earth and help teach others to be aware of what's happening". Working on an environmental questionnaire gave the students and staff information about what they thought they knew; however, when they discussed the answers they found out differently. "It made me aware of the type of stuff you wouldn't usually notice that might be harmful to the environment or possibly to you. It surprised me!", said Steven.

Spending time, sharing ideas has certainly been both a benefit and a motivator for staff and students alike. Good work EarthCARE Teams!
