Stirling Primary School Students Working Hard Despite Their Young Age!
July 9, 2006
The 150 Stirling Primary School students range from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 2. Despite their young age, the students are working hard on specific projects to make a difference. Early in the school year, parents were informed of the main focus on Litterless Lunches. Newsletters
were sent home with suggestions and a reminder that all non-recyclable lunch containers were to go home with the students at the end of the school day. This project extended even on Pizza days with the individual pizza boxes being sent home with the students.
Recycling Monitors work hard to help their teachers sort out recyclables in the
blue boxes. 'Lights Out' Monitors take their role seriously by
reminding others to remember to turn off unnecessary lights.
Teachers at Stirling Primary School need to 'take a bow' as they take the lead
in the EarthCARE projects. Although the onus is on the teachers due to the young
age of their students, they recognize that "students definitely have the opportunity
to learn and the students are definitely involved. At Stirling Primary, EarthCARE
is promoted regularly and great gains have been made this year" according to
their EarthCARE Coordinator, Carrie Szucs.
