Meet EarthCARE Project Coordinator Veronica Ford

Veronica Ford has worked with the Hastings Board of Education and now the Hastings and Prince Edward School District for 36 years. During that time she taught Grades Kindergarten through to Grade 8 in a variety of subject areas including specialty areas of French, Library, Music and Special Education.

As an Administrator with this school district, she has worked as the Principal in several elementary school settings including a twinning situation and most recently as the Assistant Superintendent and Board Leader for Leadership Development with HPEDSB.

One of her passions in education has included working with students with a differentiated approach. Her resource position at William R. Kirk offered the opportunity to support Developmentally Delayed students. In the position of principal, her school offered a center for Learning Disabled students. And recently, her Master’s thesis concentrated on the student with the dual exceptionality of High Ability and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

Now retired from the school board, Veronica has continued to work on projects that concern student learning. Helping to establish many daycares in HPEDSB’s schools that provide students with a Best Start and offering students a leadership opportunity through EarthCARE have been ongoing projects.

She continues to travel with her husband and enjoy new hobbies such as golf and water colouring. Her family and friends continue to be a source of enjoyment.
