Castlefrank EarthCARE Activities and the ECO-Stewardship Fair
June 12, 2007
The Castlefrank EarthCARE Club has been very active this year.
Many bulletin boards throughout the school reflect the efforts of the students
to promote good EarthCARE habits. One huge bulletin board in the front foyer
is a calender that reflects each month's goal in the school. Teachers and students
can easily keep track of daily or weekly EarthCARE activities. During the year,
Castlefrank students have participated in "Walk to School Week" and" Sleeping Screen Week" and more recently a week of "Litterless Lunches".
Since an average of 4 bags of garbage are collected on a daily basis at Castlefrank, the EarthCARE Club held an assembly to educated students
about litter. At the assembly, one student demonstrated the various ways to bring a lunch to school so that there wouldn't be any litter left at school. By mid week the number of lunch time garbage bags had decreased from 4 to 2 and 1/2, with the goal of only 1 bag by Friday.
Grade 8 Core French Students of Mme. Graham at Castlefrank enthusiastically prepared for entry into the ECO-Stewardship Fair on May3rd. These
projects reflected excellent creativity by the students. One particular group made certain that all materials used in the display could be completely recycled after the viewing of the display.
Castlefrank has made an outstanding effort in Respecting the Environment during this school year.
Congratulations to Mme. Graham and the staff and students at Castlefrank for a superb effort!
