EarthCARE, An Environmental Education Partnership ™

First Annual Eco-Summit at Dunlop P.S.

In an effort to educate the students of Dunlop P.S. on the important role that each of them can play in taking care of our earth, Ms. Rosekat, grade five teacher and lead teacher for Dunlop’s Green Team along with the help of every teacher, designed a fun-filled half day of learning and games that would do just that.

Each of the divisions participated, separately, in a half-day Eco-Summit, traveling from class to class taking part in various activities. They watched a movie in one room, learning how people are doing their part in cleaning up the environment by changing life habits. Stories were read involving how neglect of our environment will have dire consequences for not only humans, but the birds and animals that inhabit this world with us. They conducted experiments that demonstrated how water is wasted everyday. The Junior students composed Earth Day raps that were judged and one was chosen by the members of the Green Team to be the Green Team anthem. The Primary students planted flowers that will grow in their classrooms and then be transplanted into Dunlop’s garden.

It was a fun and exciting day for all involved and everyone came away knowing much more about how they each can change the fate of our world by taking the necessary steps to conserve energy, save water, and reduce/reuse/recycle!

Congratulations Dunlop - best success with the next Eco-Summit
