To further the environmentalists' hopes of securing a safe and healthy world,
Glebe Collegiate's environmental group, TWIGS, participated in the annual Ottawa-Carleton
District School Board audit in March of 2005. We received $2000 as part of
the Gain Sharing Program to go towards furthering the goal of reducing, reusing
and recycling. Twigs plans to use this money towards the purchase of bike racks.
Currently, we have only a few tucked in behind some trees in a secluded spots
favoured by thieves. Despite previous efforts to change the arrangement of
the front yard, to cater towards those who choose a more environmentally friendly
mode of transport, nothing has been done about putting in new bike racks. TWIGS
hopes to change that disposition, and encourage a more eco-friendly Glebe Collegiate.
