EarthCARE in Action
The results of Terry Fox E.S.'s successful battery drive.
May's Update from Terry Fox E.S.
The EarthCARE Expo was held on Thursday, May 3 at Confederation H.S.
and we had an entry again this year. Guest speakers were Ed Lawrence,
the horticulturist of CBC fame and Ian Black, the weatherman.
We
had a successful Litter Free lunch on Wednesday, April 18! Thank
you to all the classes for participating. The Earthcare prize winners of
the Primary Division were Mme. Labonte's Grade 1 class, for the Junior Division,
Ms. Boivin's class (for the third year running!) and for the Intermediate
wing, M. Lemieux's Grade 8 class. Way to go!
Our Battery Drive was also
a great success, with over 2200 batteries being collected by
the EarthCARE team. On Saturday, April 21 Drain-All Ltd. at 2705 Hawthorne
Road operated an extremely efficient collection depot for hazardous waste
from 9 - 4 p.m. They were operating at full speed at 8:30 a.m. The next
collection is at Waste Services Inc. (WSI) on Sunday, June 3, at 3354 Navan
Road, south of Innes Road from 9 - 4 p.m. Go early! For more information
go to the City of Ottawa website. Thank you to all who sent in your used
batteries! You are all honorary EarthCARE members!
