Summary Report – Metro Green Apple Award Connaught Public School Grant #597092

Our School's Earthcare club was very excited upon hearing they had won the Metro Green Apple Award.

Upon receiving our special order stainless steel water bottles, with the words “Connaught Cares” printed on them, we prepared to tell the school our plan. At the monthly assembly we told students about the importance of recycling, conserving water and electricity. We also talked about having a litterless lunch and how drink boxes were not recyclable.

We then challenged each class. We would come by and do surprise audits of their classes. If they were using their garbage and recycling in appropriate ways, if their lights were off and their taps weren't dripping each person in their class would win the stainless steel water bottles.

Our team got to work on the audits and with each check a different winning class was announced on the morning announcements. After several weeks of the Earthcare team doing audits everyone in the school had a water bottle. Students can be seen all over the school using their water bottles and less drink boxes are filling our garbages. We are proud to be an environmentally conscious school.
