Reuse and Recycle to save the earth: On Wednesday December 20th students at Frederick Banting Alternate School in Stittsville held the 3rd annual Banting Bargain Barn for the Holiday Season. The Bargain Barn has been a way of recycling items that students and staff
no longer use and, at the same time, helping those in need. Students and staff brought in their used items such as clothing, CDs, old
toys, and books and they were sold for a minimum donation. Proceeds of the funds collected will go to the Stittsville Food Bank and CHF: Partners in Sustainable Development. Through CHF we will be purchasing a donkey for a woman in Ethiopia to enable her to get her
wares back and forth to market. Through her business venture she will be able to feed and send her children to school. The Banting Bargain Barn was a fun and successful event lead by the wonderful students in the EarthCARE group. EarthCARE is an initiative the school board is involved with that encourages students to become stewards in caring for the earth.
