The Green Feather Award

The Ottawa Technical Learning Centre awards the "Green Feather" to individuals who have made a significant environmental difference in the school. Ralph Regimbald, the school's Chief Custodian, has won this award and it was well deserved!

The school has been active in EarthCARE since the program began three years ago. Participating in the audit the EarthCARE Team identified a number of problems that needed attention. Ralph was able to get the problems solved a number of water leaks have been repaired including a leaky "ever-running" urinal, an outside light that was often on when it wasn't needed now has a photocell, and the school water has been tested by two sources and results posted to encourage staff and students to drink tap water rather than buying it and putting more and more plastic bottles in the recycling bins. Students identified the need for more garbage cans in the halls and Ralph was quick to get them out.

If there is a problem or a need, Ralph is there to help and support - he is making a difference!
