Jack Donohue Public School has special Garden Helpers!
March 5, 2006
Jack Donohue is a K-grade 8 school in Kanata. Its current enrolment is 850 students.
The school opened Sept 2004. One of the areas that the school has been working
on is the development of their gardens that will run along the front of the
school. Once the school was closed for the summer, the newly planted gardens
began to become overgrown with weeds. The school's Office Administrator, Lorraine
Huppert and her family came to the rescue. Over the summer they took on the
job of looking after the gardens. Martha Johnson, the school's Library Technician
who also lives near the school looked after the flower beds in front of the
library windows.
This spring the school will continue to develop the gardens and the landscaping around the school. "Make It Green Garden Centre" on Flewellyn Road in Stittsville is a local landscaping company. It has donated seeds to the Primary classes and an offer of 30 trees to the school. Staff and students are very proud of their school.
They are seeing themselves making a difference!
