Cambridge Street Public School
OCDSB Schools Are Involved in
EarthCARE
By Judy Turriff, December 22, 2006
I had the pleasure of visiting 4 of the district's schools to discuss EarthCARE
and how the program is working. Team Leaders from each of the schools were enthusiastic
in their response to the program.
Mike Kirk is the Chief Custodian at Cambridge Public School and will be the Team Leader for the school. Debbie Machida, Principal of the school is assisting Mike with the program. They were proud of their students and their accomplishments to date.
It was very interesting to hear about the school's fundraising event that includes
the recycling of cut fabric. The Fabric Flea Market involves members of the
community donating material which is then measured and sold at this event.
The activity has been coordinated and administered by Gail Cariou, Kay Young
and Jane Walls for the past eight years! All profits from the Fabric Flea Market
are donated to Cambridge. The sale was held in October and generated over $4000
for the school. What a great way to support a school! Congratulations!
