Let us know what your school is doing for Earth Day on April 22, 2004!
Perhaps you are entering the EarthCARE Fair on April 20 at Sir Robert Borden HS and your activity will carry forward to Earth Day. Whatever you are doing to recognize and cherish this dear old world we inhabit, let us know about it here on the forum. Be sure to include your school name so others who are interested in a similar activity can contact you.
Whatever you are doing, enjoy Earth Day and thanks for making a difference. |

At Richmond Public School we are celebrating Earth Day month by having Wasteless Wednesdays every Wednesday in April. This means litterless lunches and snacks. I am visiting two different classes at noon each Wednesday to hand out "gotchas" for any litterless lunches I can see. Then we put their names in a bag and pull 10 names per class for small prizes. We have promoted these Wednesdays through posters, newsletters home, a bulleton board presentation, and visits to individual classrooms by EarthCARE students. Last week, I even had an excited student come up to me and tell me that she had brought a litterless lunch that day and it wasn't even a Wednesday!
Also, almost every classroom has participated in creating posters for the EarthCARE fair. The posters are now done and have been packed up and sent on their way. The students enjoyed doing this.
We had hoped to have a book sale to "reuse" books this month but it clashed with the drama (i won't get into details) but this is still an event which will happen next month with equal enthusiasm!
