Here are SOME of the ideas we heard today from schools about their EC activities:
Mutchmor- composting in every classroom/ sensor lights in their gym
Briargreen: Hallowe'en junk monster competition using milk cartons/ they're going to make solar cookers in the spring
Mary Honeywell: do a yard clean-up/garbageless lunches
Fitzroy Cent.: LOCO posters up in the school/litterless lunches
Henry Larsen: students take the lead in LOCO/ raising money to support "Water Can"
Connaught: compost in every classroom/flower planting around the school
Parkwood Hills: poetry contest/an assembly about the environment opened with a Hip Hop dance!/ Merivale HS students did a presentation on 3 R's
Maple Ridge posters up on what you can recycle/morning announcements- LOCO etc.
Blossom Park: a "Green" school- a strong gardening program/ recycling program - Golden Dustpan award
Barrhaven: have an EC Council/LOCO poster contest
