Posted - 02/21/2005 : 19:35:14 Here are some more ideas from the group that attended in the afternoon: Hawthorne: all computers are put on sleep mode/school is entering the solar car challenge Pleasant Pak: a cantral bulletin board used for reminders about recycling- done in French/ had a Junkyard Johnny presentation WO Mitchell: LOCO- an automatic shutdown/students have been asked for their input re: contests and initiatives- then they run the ones selected JH Putman: students have presented at the staff meeting re LOCO/entering the solar car challenge Queenswood: have had a T-shirt contest/participate in the spring cleaning of the Capital Kars: weekly recycling contest- a calendar is kept on the door/things from the EC kit are used as prizes Trillium- check out the article on Trillium- under OCDSB! Forest Valley: weeding & planting of gardens around the school/project contest for LOCO Featherston: entering solar car race/battery collection for valentines- called "Love the Earth" Riverview Altn.: garbage can free Thursdays/give out the Silver Light Award for lights off First Ave.: buttons for EC Team/battery and ink cartridge drive Viscount A.: "golden trash can" award/ focus on recycling Elgin: developed a "trees and batteries" game for students to play- similar to "snakes and ladders"/March assembly to focus on Ec Queen Eliz. have a "decontaminator" monitor/an EC article is in every newsletter Fitzroy; developed a song/doing an experiment "garbage garden"
