Primary and Junior students at Carleton Heights held a litterless lunch competition March 29 - April 1st as part of OCDSB's Earth Care initiative. The goal was to bring a lunch that did not contain any garbage. This meant using reusable containers for sandwiches and drinks, and avoiding packaged snacks like granola bars, pudding, yogurt and other packaged lunches. The garbage from each class was collected and weighed each day to see which class had the least amount of litter per person.
The contest was a great success with several students winning prizes. The winning class overall was Room 13. Thanks very much to the members of the EARTH CARE Club and Ms. McDowall for organising this event. Way to go Carleton Heights! |
