Thanks again to all the participants in this session. The ideas were really interesting. Here are a few:
Manordale: they use a cart for implementing the recycling program/their school storefront is called the "Green Door"- where they sell school suppplies to raise money for their school garden
Carleton Heights:
Wasteless Wednesdays/Book sale in conjunction with School Council and what's not sold is donated to a Seniors Residence
WEJ: have made creatures-theme "Waste Not Want Not"- students create a name to go with it/they send their milk cartons home
Huntley Cent.: composting program/discussion about the Great Grey Owl
DA Moodie: LOCO/ their Developmentally Delayed Class is instrumental in the implementation of the program
Bridlewood: LOCO switch plates up in the school/ they feed used kleenex boxes to the gerbild
Stonecrest: are writing environmental book for Kgtn gde.1 students using digital pictures for the illustrations
SW Churchill: developing a power point presentation on recycling to share with their elementary feeder schools
Castlefrank: developed a "Take It Back" program- to encourage home awareness/Kdgtns are developing a golf course out of recycled materials. Parents are going to come and play with their children.
Devonshire: working on paper use- use both sides/composting
RE Wilson: use stainless steel composters (from Lee Valley) to collect materials/ post notice on doors about LOCO
Terry Fox: litterless lunch- prize is free computer time!!
