Thanks to these schools for participating and sharing the great things they are doing in their schools. Carson Grove: have been holding litterless/garbage free lunches/have enjoyed having a catlayst in the school//have a worm composter in the school Hilson: have hung bird feeders around the school/ the audit has helped to focus the schools activities/welcomed the participation of their catalyst from Nepean HS Christie: have been collecting pop tabs- for wheelchair purchases and bread tags for counters in primary classroomd/ have a walk to school program Goulbourn: have monthly EC articles in school newsletter/ developing a solar car/ re-use pill bottles- fill them with water and freeze- using them as freezer packs for student injuries Torbolton: recycle and composting/posters for LOCO and recycling Regina: developed a light sculpture to hang in every classroom as a reminder to turn lights off- use a balloon, paper mache and paint Churchill: composting in classrooms/ do a spot check on recyling in classrooms and then give the class some feedback John Young: have a program that if it comes into the school it goes out/ students have their snacks inside before going out for recess Bells Corners: LOCO posters/litterless lunches/tree planting Elmdale/Broadview: LOCO- use cereal boxes to create posters that sit on monitors to remind students and staff -turn off computers/LOCO a focus/ looking at newsletters going home electronically Henry Munro: recycle, re-use are a big focus- support to Gloucester Food Cupboard and The Mission Elizabeth Park: design contest for LOCO/ audits done in classrooms and recylcing monitored and feedback given to class Katimavik: recycling team changed mid-year/ working on litterless lunches R. Burns Curry: cell phone and ink-cartridge collection/ are going to have an art display- using empty CD cases as frames and using plasticine to create a message inside case and then trim case with ribbon to hold the case up Greenbank:students created posters in keeping with a EC quotation/ students asked to answer "What is your Koyoto deed for the week?" |
