Wow did I ever have a fun visit at Manordale Public School. I was invited by a teacher, Mr. Gagnon, to drop by for a visit when I had some time. Well on January 19th I had some time and decided it would be a great day to drop by Manordale, take a look around the school and see what neat environmental and EarthCARE activities were being implemented at the school. I walked into the school and immediately saw a cool EC bulletin board where they can post EC events and environmental information. They also have the coolest recycle cart which the students and teachers can use to collect school recyleable materials....they can wheel it around the school; ever neat!! One initiative they are making work is the re-using of paper so if it has only been used on one side, it goes into a special place, it's collected then recirculated so it can be used in the class again. What a great idea! I had the pleasure to be introduced to two of Mr.Gagnon's students and their names were Lily and Becky. These two girls spoke to me briefly at the end of my visit about some of the other projects that Mr. Gagnon's class and the school will be entertaining. If these girls are any indication of the type of student at Manordale, look out, because they had ideas, a few questions and several insightful comments. I had a GREAT time and will be looking forward to the team and Team Leader's participation at the upcoming training session in the week of February 15th - 18th. Thankyou Manordale P.S. for the invitation, and a special thanks to Mr.Yannick Gagnon for the time, the tour and the energy which he shared with me. |
